About Us
Together ADHD Wirral is a support group for parents/carers of children with ADHD and associated conditions. The committee members are all parents of children with ADHD.
We hold regular meet ups, which are an opportunity to talk to other parents in a relaxed & informal way. We also have speakers from local organisations who we think will help us support & understand the condition more effectively and so reduce some of our STRESS!
What is ADHD?
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurobiological condition which is commonly characterised by inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity. ADHD Inattentive Type, sometimes referred to as ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) is commonly characterised by inattention and impulsivity.
The term Attention Deficit can be misleading as it suggests that those with ADHD / ADD have a lack of attention, when the issue is usually that they have inconsistent levels of attention and difficulty controlling where it is directed. At one time ADHD was considered to be a condition which only affected male children. This is now known to be incorrect, but unfortunately the stereotype of unruly little boys continues to affect the diagnosis of girls and adults, particularly those without obvious hyperactivity.

Information for Parents
There is a lot of misinformation about ADHD which can be confusing, especially for those without a diagnosis or newly diagnosed. We hope to help to provide information that allows parents to make informed decisions & signpost useful services.
Our meet ups are free to attend, join our online community & attend guest presentations.

Raising Awareness
Here at Together ADHD we are committed to raising awareness &
fighting myths & stereotypes associated with it.
The more we understand the condition, the easier it is to help & support our children. Knowing the facts is also helpful when dealing with other people who have contact with our children such as friends, relatives & teachers etc. Without an accurate understanding, it can be difficult to work out why your child is behaving in a certain way.

Meet The Team
Together ADHD Wirral was established in 2023 by a small group of parents of ADHD children. We are passionate that our group is run by parents for parents or carers as there is currently very limited support in Wirral.
The current team are all volunteers who run the group and manage the Together ADHD online community, alongside working and looking after their families!
